Sunnies

I rarely leave the house with out my massive black sunnies. Kennedy loves to try to wear them, but they are fancy and definitely not easily replaceable, so I have to keep them out of her paws. She has had no interest in glasses of her own...until yesterday. We were out running some errands and I saw a few in her size. Normally I will put little glasses on her and she rips them off and throws them from the stroller/basket. Yesterday was different. She left them on. And when I took them off her to pay for them, she cried.

When we got home I let her put them on and see herself in the mirror. Obviously she knew she looked good because she left them on for almost an hour.

She does kind of look like a little blind lady pushing her stroller, but I can't get enough of it.

We Walk Now

I kind of had a feeling it would happen like this. Kennedy has been pushing her walkers around and standing up, but hadn't taken more than 2 steps unassisted at a time. Then all of the sudden this weekend, boom, walking. She's getting more stable and less like a lady thats been at the Cantina too long. She wants to walk everywhere and no matter how many times she falls, she gets right back up and keeps going. Adding difficulty to her new skill, she really likes to carry things from room to room.

Wee Little Pack

Kennedy's preschool sized backpack came today, and I thought it was the cutest thing I had ever seen. Its pink and gray and has her name embroidered on it. When I showed it to her and put it on her back, it was love at first sight and she hasn't wanted to take it off. The combination of the backpack plus her saggy little diaper are too much. She has been playing with it on all afternoon and is having fun putting things of grave importance in it (cups, a blanket, shoes, etc.)

About to swan dive into the ball pit.

School Time

Greg and I thought it might be good to start sending Kennedy to a little preschool Mother's Day Out program. It will give her some time in a classroom and give me a little help with the baby during the week. As it turns out, Caroline and her husband had been thinking the same thing for Emily. So we put the girls in the same program and they start next week!

Caroline and I met up yesterday morning to meet the teachers and other parents in the class. It really is set up like a classroom, they have a structured daily schedule (as structured as you can be with a 14 month old) that includes stories, music, art, play gym, snacks, lunch and naps! The napping should be real interesting. Kennedy and Emily will nap in cribs until they turn 18 months and then its on napmats on the floor. Oh, to be a fly in the wall during nap time.

After meeting the teachers, the next logical step was school supply shopping. I've always loved getting supplies for school. At the bookstore in college, everything showed up as a "Textbook Item" on my student charge account. So, I loved grabbing a few extra goodies like t-shirts and hot pink Sharpie pens, blaming the extra expense on the high cost of business school books. Sorry, Mom. Anyway, I spent the rest of the afternoon completely over doing it on school supplies for Kennedy. I can see how this is going to be a problem when I have to actually buy her real supplies. I got her the cutest little preschool backpack and napmat, monogrammed, of course. Plus dishwasher safe labels for all her pacis, sippy cups and tupperware. And I also got some cute iron in labels for her clothing and blankets.

Here are the girls at school. They look thrilled to be there, right? No, really they are, neither of them wanted to leave all the toys, CRAYONS and other kids behind!

She has enough hair for a curly little up-do. It's all business in the front and a party-pony in the back.

Say Uncle

Kennedy's Uncle Eric is back in NM on a school break from Korea so we hopped on a plane to come spend a few days with him. She warmed up to him immediately and has really enjoyed getting to play with him and Uncle Alex (aka, Uncle Pickles) this week.

In addition to lots of good eats and good company, we have also been treated to fantastic weather. I almost forgot what it felt like to have a cool, breezy evening! I even had to pick up some warmer jammies for Kennedy to sleep in. Its going to be a shock to the system when we head back to the Inferno.

I have so many cute designs and ideas for shirts, onesies and gifts for upcoming holidays. One Fun Weekend

This weekend Kennedy got to have her Grammyflash and Big Poppa come for a visit. We managed to jam pack a lot of fun activities into their weekend trip. Kennedy took them to a few of her favorite places: Dream Cafe, Gymboree and In-n-Out. We went to a Royal Birthday Party on Saturday afternoon to celebrate her little friend Laighton turning 1. And Greg and I got out for a date night on Sat night for dinner and a movie, what a treat!

Oh, and, she started taking steps on her own!

Paralyzed by Baby Einstein, specifically Baby Neptune, while the rest of us finish our lunch.

Peek-a-boo.

More peek-a-boo. It really never gets old.

 Grammyflash and Kennedy.

She was a little unsure of this Cinderella at the b-day party.

More fries, please.

Morning Play Time

A few friends and I took the babies to an open play gym at one of the Dallas Rec Centers. Its $1 for unlimited playing and happens to be 5 minutes from my house, so I was pretty excited to check it out.

Can't wait for all the big kids to go back to school next week so we can go again. It was a tad crowded this morning but we did get to have the bounce house all to ourselves for a bit. Yes, a bounce house. Kennedy's little friend Emily is both fearless and incredibly agile so she was literally running from one end of the bounce thing to the other. Hilarious. The other 3 kids had fun just trying to stand up in there and keep their balance.

We got home and Kennedy was asleep with out a fight. I have a feeling we are going to be doing more morning playdates now that her naps seem to be getting later and later in the day.

That hair is completely out of control.

For a brief period, this was the only thing that mattered in life.

Knox found a fun stick to play with.

Cruising along the bounce house.

Hugs!

Baby's Cell Phone

It kind of amazes me how in tune Kennedy is with technology devices. She knows what a remote is, and points her little pretend version to the TV and pushes the buttons. She can unlock our iPhones with about 70% accuracy and loves to scroll through the pictures on her own.

I had to laugh because Sesame Street is really keeping up with the times with today's song, "There's An App For That."

Her latest obsession is her orange cell phone. It looks and sounds like a real phone and even rings on its own. She opens up the little flip phone and holds it up to her ear to babble her version of, "oh hai!" Its become the thing that comes everywhere with us this week.

Yesterday afternoon she set up her laptop in front of her and was playing on her phone. I can't imagine where she picked this up. Its not like I ever post up on the floor in the playroom reading a blog on the computer and checking e-mail on my phone. Nope, never.

Giddyup

I love how babies dance. Its like they hear music and they just can't help themselves. I'm not sure we own many non-musical toys but the other night she found the music from the horse to be irresistible. This is the head bang, but she also has a full on booty shake she does as well.

Stroller Strides

Kennedy loves to walk around pushing things, her walkers, stroller, etc. Her little friend Emily has a doll stroller she likes to ride in. Last night they figured out a great way to both be happy playing with the same toy.
'Hop in, Em. I'll take you wherever you want to go!'

Sugar Queen

Kennedy got all dressed up in her ruffly flower dress to go celebrate Laighton's birthday at playgroup yesterday. We celebrated with carousel rides and cupcakes. Since Kennedy and a few of the other babies were running on no morning naps, we weren't sure how everything would go over. Kennedy looked a little sleepy before we got on her horse, but quickly woke up when we stared going round and round. And she definitely perked up when she saw the cupcakes. She's a girl with her mommy's sweet tooth.

The bow stayed on long enough for a few pictures. And not a second longer.

 L & K in their tutus.

The babies were perfectly content just watching. They had no idea they were going to get to ride on the carousel.

Faster, faster!

Sweet treat.

TV Debut

Since Greg and I both work/worked in advertising, we are used to being behind the scenes when it comes to commercials. Greg comes up with the ideas, writes the words and makes the commercials you see on TV. I (used to) manage clients, budgets, creative teams, etc. But we got to take a turn at being in front of the camera for an NBC Dallas campaign. The agency Greg used to work for in NYC produces a lot of commercials for NBC. When they were casting in Dallas, they got a hold of us and we were happy to participate.

I haven't received any major motion picture offers, but the commercial has only been running a couple of weeks. So. Still holding my breath.

Her-cules

Someone was showing off her muscles pushing the air log all by herself at Gymboree today.
