A Good Afternoon

Lately Kennedy has been a little unpredictable. She usually has one good long crying fit a day (please don't be colic...please don't be colic) and we never really know if it will be morning or night. So today instead of going out for lunch, we had Caroline and her 2 month old daughter Emily over. The girls were both pretty good...until Kennedy woke up hungry and Emily decided she was done being smiley.

Later today (after a short but intense meltdown in Hobby Lobby) Kennedy was in a really good mood so I set up her farm animal play mat. Today is the first time she has really started to focus on the toys. She follows the sound of the rattles and reaches out toward things with her little fist. She was mesmerized by her own cute reflection in the mirror and stared at herself quietly for a while.

Weekend Visitors

This past weekend we were lucky enough to have Grammy and Big Poppa come in town for a visit. I don't think there was a time when Kennedy wasn't being held, and I think she loved it. Greg and I loved having the extra help with her since she has been a little (read: a lot) fussy lately. She had her fair share of meltdowns this weekend and it was such a relief to have extra baby-holders to help soothe her, walk her outside and rock her to sleep. Baby-holders and visitors are welcome in our home anytime.

They kept her for a few hours on Saturday so Greg and I could get out, just the two of us. What did we do? Starbucks, Pedicures and Target - my personal version of GTL (for you Jersey Shore fans). Well, I really wanted a pedicure but also wanted to spend some time out of the house with Greg, so he was nice enough to go with me to get one.

3 Week Milestones - she is lifting and turning her head during tummy time, turning her head to follow the sound of my voice and sleeping in 4 hr stretches at night.

This is a new thing - sleeping with her arms up. If we hear her grunting or making noise at night,
it is when she is breaking out of the swaddle blanket to put her arms up.

This is the magic hold - whenever she gets really, really upset,
Greg holds her like this and she immediately calms down.

Heelarious

Today is a big day for Miss Kennedy - she got her first pair of high heels. Pink satin peep toe pumps with a little bow...the apple does not fall far from the tree, I think I have a similar pair. Our friends in NY, Justin and Christine, sent her these amazing (soft) high heel shoes today. I squealed when I opened the box and can't wait to put them on her.

Two Weeks Old

Kennedy had her 2-week follow up appointment with the pediatrician and we learned that she is gaining weight and growing fast! Although, I didn't need a pediatrician to tell me that, I am the one feeding her every 1.5-2 hours.

My, what big eyes you have! Kennedy is definitely starting to stay awake a lot more during the day. Today she has only napped for about 30 minutes and aside from a brief time on the giraffe mat, she has preferred to be held.

She got to have her first tub bath and she loved being in the water.
She did not love when we took her out of the water.

An attempt at tummy time - we will keep working on it.

Sneak Peek

Well today was Take-2 of the newborn photos with Kennedy. Our first try didn't go so well, but our awesome photographer was nice enough to let us come back today and try again. Kennedy cooperated for just long enough to get some good shots (and not a minute more). I am dying to see the rest of the photos, but we got a little sneak peek tonight:

We Survived Week One

I can't believe that just a week ago we were in our post-partum room snuggling with our little Kennedy (and of course, watching the Bachelorette). The first few nights home were a little rough, but it seems like we are starting to get the hang of it. She is such a little sweetie and it is hard to get dressed or get anything done because we just don't want to put her down.

Some week 1 milestones: Greg has gotten to experience a few "live" diaper changes. Kennedy is eating more consistently (about every 2-3 hours). And today she got her first bath, which she seemed to enjoy.

She really likes laying on the giraffe mat.

Afternoon naps for mom, dad, Kennedy and Olive.

*She didn't actually sleep like this...but I couldn't resist tucking a lamb under her arm for a quick photo.

Playing Dress Up

After a night with no crying (but lots of feedings) everyone woke up feeling well rested. "Well rested" is relative - two nights ago we were up all night soothing a screaming baby. We are relaxing at home this afternoon and may venture out for a walk at Northpark (and not just because I'm dying to put her in the Bugaboo, or go to Janie and Jack to find her some clothes...).

She is to little for most of her clothes, but her Grams found her a dress and tights that fit. Of course there was an immediate photo session.

Glad to be Home

We survived our first night at home with Kennedy. It went just like you would expect a first night with a newborn to go, but we are getting into the swing of things and think tonight might be a little better. She woke up a little hoarse this morning - if that gives you any indication of how much crying took place last night.

She is just so cute - and sometimes we find ourselves staring at her in amazement. The best time is right after she has finished eating and is a little "milk drunk." This is when she is content, very awake and alert. She will make the funniest faces and stare right at you with these big blue eyes.

We can't stop taking pictures of her and I am now just getting around to posting them. She is sound asleep next to us, and probably resting her little voice for another very eventful night.

Kennedy Rose Hunter

Please excuse my extremely puffy, round moonface - this is post delivery and still extremely full of fluids from the epidural. The hospital stamped Kennedy's foot prints on Greg's scrubs.
She does this. A lot.

With Grams and Grammy

Being rocked by her daddy.

She is really good at doing this.

We've got some awesome hats.

Sleeping in the swing.
