Kennedygram

While I do try to keep the blog updated with milestones and fun things we've done, it's not quite a day-by-day account in the life of the Littlest Hunter. Instagram is where I end up documenting our daily adventures and activities. Its mostly Kennedy pictures, but every now and then, I sneak in a few things related to me.

So here's a look at what we have been up to on Instagram. Come follow us!

Sporting a new hat, dinner with her gal pal Audrey and her new robe.

Playing, visiting the dentist, ripping open a box of Thin Mints and pajama day at school.

Lunch and shopping date with mommy, learning about aperture & shutter speed and saving her pennies.

Meeting Baby Jackson. Love at first sight!

Apparently MY pictures mostly involve wine, margaritas and sweets.

Four Years

Today, Greg and I are celebrating four years of marriage, and it feels like it has flown by. We got married in New Mexico at the Hotel Albuquerque  at Old Town on a warm and sunny winter day. We were living in New York at the time but decided to tie the knot closer to home. We had such a wonderful wedding and reception and had so many of our friends and family there to celebrate. I loved everything about our wedding and its always fun to look back through our album and remember the day.

We tried to explain to Kennedy that mommy and daddy have been married for 4 years, and when Greg was leaving for work, she asked if he was going to get married.

I look forward to celebrating many, many more anniversaries together!

A Very Pink Valentine

I hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day and enjoyed spending time with your loved ones. Greg brought his girls a few early Valentine surprises, flowers for me and a balloon for Kennedy. This started the excitement over the holiday and she loved shouting, "Happy Van-times Day" for the next couple days.

Kennedy was really looking forward to handing out her valentines to her classmates. She was excited to give her classmates their iPhones and chocolates (which I painstakenly hand trimmed and glued the night before). She also knew we were having pink pancakes with daddy for dinner, so that was pretty exciting, too. When I picked her up she was so happy to give me the valentine she made in class. She was so proud of it that she even let me take her picture after school. She and I went for a frozen yogurt treat before coming home to rest.

My little valentine and I started making dinner before Greg got home and she loved, and I do mean loved, making the pancakes pink. I should note that due to the increased reading of Pinkalicious here, we make everything pink (muffins, milk, etc).

Kennedy of course made everything about Valentine's Day more fun for all of us.

Kennedy said iLikeU with some M&M minis.

Sweet little Valentine.
"Although I keep growing an inch at a time, I will always be your Valentine!" She made this for me and Greg.

The Wanch

Last weekend we went down to spend a weekend with the Pfeiffers at their family ranch near Austin. Kennedy could not wait to go look for animals and spend the weekend playing outside. She calls it the "wanch" and I love it every time I hear her say it because she really emphasizes the "ch" at the end.

Anyway, we drove down Friday afternoon and got there just in time for a quick after dinner drink and bedtime for Kennedy. Then it was time for the grown ups to hang out by the fire and cruise around looking for animals. We saw a ton of deer all over the place. It was pretty cool.

Saturday was a nice enough day outside. Chilly, but not too cool to let the kids play, run, paint and jump in the yard. Between the play house and the bounce house, there was plenty to keep the kids busy. One would think Kennedy would have jumped her way straight to a nap, but FOMO (fear of missing out) kept her from taking an afternoon snooze. We took them for a ride around the property to look for deer, and only caught a glimpse of a couple.

We bathed the girls, got them ready for bed and finished getting dinner ready. We had a delicious dinner, put the girls to bed, and took our drinks out to the fire for ghost story telling. I may or may not have been too scared from the ghost stories and howling coyotes to go on a final night time ride.

On Sunday we had a quick breakfast, cleaned up, and hit the road. A fun weekend was had by all!

Welcome to the wanch!

The kids looking for deer. Or their daddys. Its hard to say.

Wee-Haw

We had a very Texan weekend in Ft. Worth, y'all!

While my dad was in town a couple weeks back, we took a trip to Cow Town to check out the Stockyards. Nearly immediately upon arrival we snagged a cowboy hat for Kennedy, which she happily wore. We took her to see a big pen of longhorns (all of which were named Bevo) and watched the cowboys round them up. A couple times a day, they herd the cattle down main street. We still hear Kennedy saying, "c'moooon cattle, c'moooon cattle!"

There was a petting zoo with some really aggressive goats and a pretty sweet camel named, Truffles. Kennedy made it clear she was NOT interested in the animals. And I'll be honest, they were a little too forceful for my liking as well.

BBQ was on the agenda for lunch where Kennedy tried and loved fried pickles. And she ate all her lunch. Mostly because she was promised a trip to the candy store if she ate it all. Bribery and parenting working hand in hand right there.

We strolled up and down the main street until the little cowgirl was tuckered out. When she went from playful to feisty, we knew it was time to head back Dallas for nap time.
