Rapunzel. The Bear.

We have had kind of a crazy January but things are finally getting back to normal. I had the flu. Kennedy had an extended vacation to NM. My dad made one trip and my mom made two trips to Dallas. And I had surgery. Nothing major - just had a hernia repaired and the recovery has been pretty easy. But I was glad to have my mom here to help us with Kennedy.

One afternoon while Lainey was here, we took Kennedy over to Northpark to redeem her Build-a-Bear gift card. She got to pick out the bear and then push the foot pedal to fill it with stuffing. The last step is to pick out a heart, give it a kiss, make a wish and drop it inside the bear. The whole process was a little overwhelming but once the bear was sewn shut, Kennedy was definitely ready to pick out clothes and accessories. She picked a Rapunzel dress, a crown, a wand and named the bear...wait for it...Rapunzel.

The weather was nice enough to dine al fresco at the new Breadwinners in Northpark. Just as delicious as the other locations in Dallas! And Rapunzel has now become one of Kennedy's favorite sleeping friends.

Christmas in New Mexico

While we were visiting Albuquerque (in December) we got to have the entire "McMahon" family together. Eric and Sora were in town from Seoul to celebrate Christmas and their wedding. Sora loved Kennedy (and the feeling was mutual) and we had so much fun showing her around Albuquerque. This was a big trip for her: first time to the US, first time meeting all our family and Eric's friends, first Christmas with our family, you get the idea. It was a lot of firsts.

My parents hosted a reception at El Pinto to celebrate Eric and Sora's wedding with all of their New Mexico family and friends. Kennedy was in heaven - chips, guac and constant attention. The sopapillas really put her over the edge. She hasn't really had honey, and she got to on her sopapilla. Did she like it? Well, at one point I caught her drinking the honey like a sippy cup.

The next morning was "Christmas Morning" and my parents really outdid themselves. Kennedy helped hand out gifts and opened a ton of fun new toys. We all got lots of fun new toys, too. My mom hosted a belated Christmas Morning dinner with my grandparents, aunts and uncles. Kennedy got to open more presents. I was not at all surprised the next morning when she woke up asking to open gifts...

It was a really nice and long visit to New Mexico. Kennedy got to play in some snow while Greg and I got to see some of our ABQ friends. I think we must have been busy and having fun because I realized I hardly took any pictures. Oh well, I guess sometimes its good to step away from the camera and just enjoy the moment!

Christmas: Christmas Morning

Time to rewind back to December 25, Christmas Morning.

Kennedy and her cousins woke up to find that Santa had enjoyed the cookies they left the night before, and left some fun surprises. Kennedy had been letting me know for weeks that Santa was going to bring her a choo-choo train. She squealed with delight to see it set up in the living room.

The Hunter's living room looked like the "girl section" in the toy store. Everything pink, princess, doll, froofy, etc. The girls pretty much stayed in their jammies all day playing with the new toys and watching movies. It was a fun and relaxing Christmas Day for us all!

A choo-choo train and a sassy ponytail.

Dance party and movie watching.
Greg is an excellent shot with the Nerf gun.

Getting Caught Up

Its been a spell, hasn't it? I've been excited to share pictures from our Christmas in New Mexico. And my brother's wedding reception. And all the fun we have been having in Dallas.

Then the flu happened.

I was sicker than I have been in a long time. So sick, I flew home from New Mexico and left Kennedy at my parents house for almost a week. On top of that, I got a sinus infection. And then I had hernia surgery. So the blog has been totally neglected.

While I get caught up on the blog (and laundry, and...well, life in general), here's a cute video of Kennedy singing.
