34 weeks - Getting Closer

I can't believe it is the end of May and we have just over 5 weeks to go until Baby Hunter makes his or her debut! Greg and I recently "graduated" from our baby classes at the hospital so I guess this means we areready to be parents? Over the past 6 weeks we have taken a baby care class (how to not break the baby when we bring it home), a series of labor and delivery classes and most recently a breastfeeding class. The nursery is almost finished, the bassinette is in our bedroom and we have all our supplies in the closet. All we have left to do is pack the hospital bag!

I am 34 weeks and the baby is about the size of a cantaloupe. My belly has definitely gotten a LOT bigger and I can feel that the baby is a lot bigger as well. Overall I am still feeling pretty good though I am a lot more tired and the Dallas heat is starting to get to me, how is it this hot and summer hasn't even officially started!

We learned in baby class that crying is a late hunger cue for the baby - turns out the same is true for the babymama. I feel like the baby sometimes - I am happy when I am well rested, fed in regular (timely) intervals and have a bottle (of water) within reach.

Happy Mother-to-be Day

We just returned from an impromptu 'babymoon' and Mother's Day getaway weekend at the Barton Creek Resort in Austin. It was a very relaxing weekend complete with a visit to the spa for a prenatal massage (regular massage for Greg). We also went hiking, relaxed outside in rocking chairs and had delicious brunch. Saturday night we made it to the Salt Lick and had some delicious BBQ for dinner.

Before we left for BBQ, Greg wanted to make sure that we captured a current belly pic:

I am 31 weeks along and still feeling pretty good. The baby has grown to about 3 lbs now! There is a lot of gymnastics going on and I feel it a lot more as he or she is getting bigger and has less room to move around in. The other night I had my iPhone resting on my belly, and the baby bumped it off. Can't wait for this weekend, we are headed to Midland for a baby shower!

Yummie Mummie

I am well into my third trimester and hit 30 weeks last week. I am still feeling pretty good though occasionally getting a visit from some of my first trimester friends: nausea and fatigue. I am still exercising regularly, which really helps me sleep at night and keeps my back from hurting.

Greg and I start our baby care classes tonight and our birthing classes next week. We are less than 10 weeks from the due date and I have a feeling this time is going to fly by. This past weekend my dad was in town and helped Greg paint the nursery. I can't wait to get the furniture in and get the room ready to bring home Baby Hunter!

My prego friend Caroline and I recently joined a mommy meet up group for North Dallas moms called the Yummie Mummies. So far, everyone I have met in the group is really friendly and welcoming. Today was a coffee meet-up at one of my new favorite Dallas locations - Central Market. I met a girl who is due 2 days after me, and a bunch of moms with 3 and 4 month old babies. I am looking forward to getting to know the ladies in the group better and eventually bringing my baby to future play groups.

27 Week Update and New Pics

This week I hit 27 weeks, the last week of my second trimester. Everything has been pretty easy up to this point, but all the blogs and books I read are telling me that I am quickly moving out of the "comfortable" trimester.

Last weekend Greg and I flew to ABQ for a baby shower and Easter. I got to see all of my friends and family to celebrate Baby Hunter's upcoming arrival. I also got to hang out with my fellow prego friend Sam, she is expecting their first baby on June 29. We got some really cute and fun gifts for the baby, everything is so small! And who knew babies needed so much stuff. Anyway, I am excited to start putting the baby's nursery together. I hope Greg is ready to start all his dad duties of building swings, bassinets, exersaucers and whatever else finds its way into the house.

On Saturday afternoon, we met up with our wedding photographers in the Bosque for some prego pictures. We had a lot of fun with them and ended up with some really beautiful pictures.

My mom flew back to Dallas with me and we went for a 4D ultrasound this morning. We were able to get a few good shots of the baby's profile. If you look carefully you will see the baby's profile and its little hand is up by its head.

Real Housewife of Dallas

The last few weeks have been quite busy for me and Greg. We moved from NY to Dallas and have finally found a place to live. We just moved into a really cute house in North Dallas not too far from Greg's office and all our friends here. The house is quite a bit bigger than we are used to (coming from NY) and the first few days felt like it might be too big. But I think we will settle in just fine.

reg started his new job at Firehouse yesterday and I started my first official day of being a housewife. So much to do to get us unpacked and ready for the baby. We bought really cute bedding for the nursery and can't wait to start making a room for Baby Hunter.

I met my new doctor, and while she is very nice, she is 'all business' so I was glad my husband didn't try to crack too many jokes with her. We are going to start our baby classes in a few weeks at a Baylor hospital, which is where I will be delivering.

This weekend we are heading to ABQ for our first baby shower and I couldn't be more excited to see all my family and friends!

Belly update - me at 25 weeks on moving day. The baby is kicking and moving around a lot, and will sometimes move in response to one of Olive's incredibly shrill barks. Overall, I am still feeling pretty good, mostly just a little back and hip pain at the end of the day, but nothing major. I feel lucky to have had it pretty easy up to this point.

Mocktails and Ice Cream

I had so much fun at Sweetiepie in the West Village on Saturday. Julie put together a very cute tea party baby shower with some of my NYC friends. We had tea sandwiches, scones, mini cakes and pomegranate champagne cocktails (I enjoyed a mocktail). I have made some great friends since I moved to NY, and I will miss them when we leave in a few weeks. But I am so glad Julie got us all together to celebrate Baby Hunter (and our upcoming move).

We had the first warm day of the year and I was so happy to shed the Ugg boots and puffer jacket! Greg and I took Olive for a nice long walk and stopped in Hagan Daaz for a little evening treat. Afterall, the baby needs it’s calcium…
